We are an active parish which relies on the volunteers from within to help. Each Ministry is an invitation and an opportunity to serve and to be involved in the Parish community.

Parish Ministries

Altar Servers/Acolytes Assist on the sanctuary in the celebration of the Mass.  Altar servers may be either boys or girls in Yr 4 and above, provided they have made their 1st Communion.  Acolytes perform similar tasks but acolytes are an official and permanent “order” of the Church.  Acolytes are formally instituted into their ministry with the approval of the bishop. They are permanent ministers of Holy Communion and may lead a church service in the absence of a priest.

Altar Society Assists with the floral decoration of the church and staff the Piety Stall.

Catechists and catechist aides Teach children the Catholic religion in our local State Kindergarten & Primary Schools on a Wednesday morning.  Training provided by CCD.

Children’s Liturgy Helpers are rostered toconduct a short prayer service for the younger children in Parish Centre during part of the Sunday 10:00am Mass.  A ministry especially for parents.

Choir members at the different Sunday Masses lead the congregation in singing.

Collections Volunteers assist in walking around the church to take up the Sunday collections.

Computer/Projector Hymn Operators Control the projection of hymns on the screen at Mass.

Counters for Collections Count and prepare banking forms for parish collections on Monday mornings.

Eucharistic Ministers Distribute Holy Communion at Mass or take the Eucharist to the sick & elderly in their homes or Nursing Home either after a weekday or Sunday Mass.

Garden Maintenance Volunteers keep the church gardens tidy at a time convenient to themselves.

Lectors Proclaim the Word of God in the Scripture Readings at Mass.

Legion of Mary group Meet late Saturday afternoon in Parish Centre and offer spiritual support to needy people.

Liturgy Committee Meets quarterly (weekday evening) to discuss and implement ways of enhancing parish liturgical celebrations.  Meetings open to all in the parish.

Morning Tea Group are rostered to prepare Morning Tea in Parish Centre after 10am Mass on 1st Sunday month.

Musician/Organist provide musical accompaniment for the choir at Sunday Mass.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) group assist in preparing adult candidates in the parish who wished to be baptised or received into the Catholic Church.

Rug Sewing Group meets monthly in Parish Centre over lunch for 2 hrs on Wednesdays to sew and knit rugs for people in the developing world.

St Vincent de Paul Society meets fortnightly on Wednesday mornings in Parish Centre.  They provide financial and practical assistance for needy people in our area.
